Costa del Sol is Rockin' in the New Year!

Costa Rica is a great place to be to ring in the New Year.....and Costa del Sol in Playa Bejuco is gearing up for the big event!  Homeowners are rolling in from all over the world to get settled in to their Casas and prepare for a Pura Vida style New Year's Eve celebration.
The rental homes are looking good too with homes filled to capacity!
With everyone in the mood to party and celebrate the "pre-party" Eve of New Years Eve parties have begun!

If you are thinking about a tropical vacation away from the dreary cold gray winter you really should considering booking a rental home in this fabulous gated community only a short walk from the beautiful Playa Bejuco beach in the Central Pacific region of Costa Rica!

Come spend a week and you will be wanting to see the homesites that are available to start building your own casa!

Then YOU will be one of those happy folks in silly paper crowns having so much fun!

I can hardly wait to see what fun they have on New Years Eve!

Feliz Año Nuevo!

Out with the Old and In with the New!
It is that wonderful time of year
to say goodbye to 2009 and ring in 2010!
And what better place to do that than in the beautiful Costa Rica where the carnival spirit is plentiful with parties, bonfires, dance, music, fireworks and celebration!
I am sure that San Jose will be rocking but they say that most of the fun is at the coastal areas around the beaches!
According to the Central Pacific Chamber of Commerce there will be plenty to choose from and Jaco will be rocking!  Check out their post

TO RING IN THE NEW YEAR'S, THERE WILL BE PLENTY

TO CHOOSE FROM IN THE CENTRAL PACIFIC REGION

The Delfin has a new chef!

In case you missed my previous post about the Delfin Beach Resort click here to catch up!
A Great Place for Dinner at Playa Bejuco!

But things have changed a bit around the Delfin........Chef Bob has made a change in his career and moved to San Jose and the Delfin welcomes Ronny as their new chef!  Ronny has some roots with the Delfin from the early days and has been traveling the world on a Norwegian Cruise Ship mastering his culinary skills.  And his new found knowledge has paid off in a big way for the palates of those dining at the Delfin!  I can personally attest to the Mahi Mahi......it was delicious!

A complete new menu and a new chef that is eager to please ......the Delfin offers you a new dining experience that you can enjoy after taking in one of those beautiful Costa Rican sunsets while enjoying a tropical cocktail prepared for you by Minor!

So we bid a fond farewell to Bob and a mouth watering welcome to Ronny!  Costa Del Sol ~ Playa Bejuco and the Delfin for dinner .....what more could you ask for?

Playa Bejuco ~ The Community

Communities are formed by many things ....neighborhoods, churches, schools, small business etc.   One of the most useful businesses available to any community is a place to purchase necessary items like food, drink and household items.  This is particularly useful when you must drive approximately 13 kilometers to the nearest grocery store!
Today our Spotlight is on our little pulpería Mini Super Bejuco!

The owners Geovanny and Xinia are very hard workers and keep their little store fully stocked with the main necessities like bottled water, ice, canned goods, dairy products, a nice variety of bottled drinks, bread and some fresh fruits and veggies.  It is so nice when you are in the middle of cooking and realize you need something and can just jump on the golf cart and have what you need in a matter of minutes.  (remember...I said "little" tienda so they cannot always provide exactly what you are looking for)  We have also noticed that on many items that we purchase daily that they even have better prices.

They also have some cool games for your entertainment pleasures!

Convenience is a luxury that we all appreciate so let's be sure and stop in and make purchases from Geovanny and Xinia as often as possible!  We want to make sure that they can stay in business!

We also learned some good news today while on a shopping trip....as of this coming Wednesday they will be offering Imperial cerveza!  We have noticed that we tend to keep their supply of large jugs of water pretty depleted.....I can not even imagine what we will do to their beer supply!  :o)

CHEERS to Mini Super Bejuco!
Oh and did I mention that Geovanny is a Saprissa fan?
Go Purple Monsters!

Costa Rican Christmas Trees!

There are many Christmas traditions around the world but one that appears to be universal is the "Christmas Tree"!  An interesting concept that we noticed in Costa Rica is that many families put their Christmas trees on the front porch!

We have always enjoyed riding around at Christmastime and enjoying the lights and Christmas decorations.  So we continued our tradition here in Costa Rica and went driving around in search of some Christmas spirit.

Even the Jaco Policia have the spirit of Christmas!

Sometimes you will see a tree sitting alone on the porch but many were surrounded by family lounging on the porch around the tree!  Costa Ricans love to have their picture made and they love for you to take pictures of their children.  We learned they feel the same way about there beautifully appointed Christmas tree as they smiled and waved and cleared the view to make sure we got a good shot of their prized ornament!

Merry Christmas to All and may you
be blessed with the magic and beauty
that comes to us each year in the form of a
"CHRISTMAS TREE"!

It's a Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood!

Costa Del Sol is looking
better and better every day!

Kudos to everyone that has played an integral part in moving forward with the completion of our wonderful neighborhood!

Everything is shaping up very nicely!  The construction of the privacy wall and fencing is complete,  paving of the roads almost complete, sewer system in place,  entrance sign repainted,  homes are being completed, gardens are well manicured and the pools are well maintained!

There is always a hustle-bustle
of activity in play!

It has been a busy year.

The end result?  A great sense of
pride of accomplishment!
A wonderful neighborhood that you look
forward to coming home to!
A time to invite your friends and family to come
and kick back  and enjoy the Pura Vida lifestyle
that you were hoping for!

Yep!  It's a beautiful day in Costa Del Sol!

Open Air Living can be so nice......but sometimes it can drive you batty!

One of the nice things about living in Costa Rica is that you can leave all the doors and windows open during the daytime and let the breeze blow through the house.  You may remember the previous post that I did about the little hummingbird that flew into the bedroom

Well this visitor is not a feathered friend at all
but a creepy flying mammal better known as a BAT!

These odd creatures like to hang out on our patio and plaster themselves on the wall up under the roof.  And just as long as they are not the "vampire" breed, that is found here in Costa Rica and actually does prey on other mammals by sucking their blood, I don't really mind because they like to eat mosquitoes!  One bat can consume as many as 1000 mosquitoes in a day!  The mosquitoes here are vicious and can cause you to itch for days on end.

We have these really large sliding glass doors that open up to the patio and I guess it just looked inviting to this little guy and as you can see decided he wanted to come inside and check things out!
And so we began a repeat of the scenario of how to remove a flying bird from your house....but this time touching it was not an option!
Thankfully after flying around the ceiling from room to room for a while he decided he preferred to be outside and found his way to the door, showed himself out and joined his friends again on the wall!

And from the mean looking stare that he was giving me when I took this picture I don't think he enjoyed his visit!
I think that we shall keep the screens closed
when Batman is lurking by the pool!

There is over a 100 species of bats in Costa Rica and with only 200 mammal species in the nation half of those are BATS!
Come to beautiful Costa Rica
and learn more about the amazing ecosystem they have to offer.
to learn more about this amazing creature!
