Manzana o pera?

Manzana o pera?

The continuing saga of  "Name that Fruit!" asks if you are familiar with these two fruits  . . . the Apple (Manzana) and the Red Pear (Rojo Pera).  I had never seen a red pear and there is an apple in Costa Rica that looks much like this, but I think smaller, called a water apple.
Regardless of which variety we cut them in halves sprinkled them with cinnamon and  brown sugar and a pat of butter each.  Wrapped by twos in aluminum foil on a baking sheet and into the oven they went at 200 degrees for about an hour.  Place 2 of the deliciously roasted pears in a decorative dessert bowl, drizzle with the caramelized drippings and then plop a big dollop of  a mixture of  1/2 drained plain yogurt and 1/2 cream cheese stirred together with a little of the pan drippings on top and sprinkled with some more cinnamon.  The recipe actually called for a topping of Fruche,  but not sure if that is available here.

Oh so easy . . .  and yummy no matter what the fruit is!
